The Missing Hand

I have just completed work on the score for The Missing Hand, a quirky dark comedy short by  23 1/2 Films, directed by Daniel Harding. 23 1/2 asked me a few questions… What attracted you to The Missing Hand and what sort of ideas did you have for the music? I’m a big fan of dark comedies, particularly Coen Brothers films, and the style of this film reached out to me. It’s short, simple, and has a tone that allowed for really interesting storytelling. Daniel was also very open to me developing the style and musical world for the film, he’s […]

Dinosaur Rides and Dino Music

I have just had the pleasure of working with composer Olivia Thomas on her new music for the Lost Kingdom area of Paulton’s Theme Park in Hampshire. This project involved creating eight 20-minute long looping pieces for the 8 different rides in the park. The pieces are all based around the same themes, but orchestrated and developed in different ways to suit the different rides. I worked with Olivia at her studio, and together we orchestrated all of the music as quickly as we possibly could, to meet a tight deadline. Naturally it’s made up of exciting, Jurassic Park inspired orchestrations of rather […]

Gobsmacked! Hong Kong!

Gobsmacked! is up and running in Hong Kong at the Udderbelly Festival. Now on its second outing and with a fantastic new addition to the cast (Michael Hamway), we’re on the tracks to having a very cool show here. The show’s new director is the wonderful Alexandra Spencer-Jones (Action To The Word) who has brought a great new spark of creativity and passion to the project. We’ve put a selection of amazing new songs into the production, which have been going down brilliantly with the eclectic audience of locals, international visitors and ex-pats out here. Here’s a clip from the casts’s TV appearance […]

SsangYong Tivoli Commercial

I recently composed the music for this very cool new ad, created by Kindred Agency. The spot does not contain any voice over or dialogue, so it is driven by the score and sound design. Source: Today  sees the launch of our new “Drones” campaign for SsangYong Tivoli. The £1million multimedia campaign is led by a 30 second TV spot and supported by digital advertising, dealer press and radio. The aim of the campaign was to introduce the new SsangYong Tivoli SUV to the market and show off its great value offering. The advert – which breaks on ITV at 9.15pm […]

Let’s get this show on the road.

As of this week, Gobsmacked! production is all-systems-go. We already have an unbelievable team of producers, designers and lighting/sound engineers who are top of their fields. Now we’re holding first-round casting auditions over three days in Fitzrovia, London, which will be followed closely by a workshop call-back day to put our favourite singers together for the first time. Hopefully we’ll see sparks fly and magic happen. On its own. That would be great. Meetings with our dangerously creative set and lighting designer are well underway, as we dream up the most exciting, spectacular, (+ practical and tour-able) stage set in which to tell our story. No […]
